Camouflage is overrated. A thoughtful packing list makes the difference between a great safari and an uncomfortable one.
Clothing
Pack in earthy, muted tones — olive, khaki, brown. Bright colours startle wildlife and are against park rules in some zones. Layers are essential: mornings in the jeep are cold even in March, and afternoons warm up fast. A light rain jacket comes in handy year-round.
Footwear
Closed-toe walking shoes for safaris and easy slip-ons for around the resort. Flip-flops are fine for the pool but leave them behind for the jungle.
Essentials
Sunblock, insect repellent, a refillable water bottle, binoculars and a power bank. If you photograph wildlife, a lens of 200mm or longer makes a huge difference — and carry extra memory cards.
What to leave behind
Do not carry loud clothing, heavy luggage on safari (space in jeeps is tight), or any plastic single-use bottles into the park. Respect the forest rules and keep your distance from wildlife at all times.
